LOCAL RULES

To be read in conjunction with the Rules of Golf and Rules of Amateur Status 2019:

1. OUT OF BOUNDS (Rule 18)

  1. a) Those areas beyond the inside line of the boundary fences of the Club.
  2. b) Those areas beyond the inside line of white stakes with black tops.
  3. c)  Those areas designated as the Carpark, Ceremony Area, Clubhouse or Maintenance Shed.
  4. d) A ball which crosses Boundary Road (which is out of bounds) and comes to rest beyond that road, is out of bounds even though it may lie on another part of the course.

2. ABNORMAL COURSE CONDITIONS – FREE RELIEF (RULE 16)

Relief may be taken within the relief area of one club-length once establishing the reference point. Reference Point: The nearest point of complete relief no nearer the hole.

  1. a) Areas encircled by white paint. The white paint may appear in any of the following ways – dots, broken lines, or unbroken lines.
  2. b) Bare patches on defined fairway
  3. c) Clearly defined wheel ruts caused by course machinery.
  4. d) Washaways in bunkers and at the margin of bunkers.
  5. e) Landscaped/ornamental garden beds surrounded by a border.
  6. f) Blue Lines on closely mown areas
  7. g) 4th Hole Green Nursery (Compulsory GUR). Players MUST use the designated Drop Zone.
  8. h) Any hole dug in the ground by an animal, except for holes dug by animals that are also defined as loose impediments (such as worms or insects) Ant hills are, by definition, are loose impediments and, through the green, may be removed without penalty.
  9. i)             Relief from Dangerous Animal Conditions (e.g. fire ants), see Rule 16.2b.

3. IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS (Rule 16.1)

Relief may be taken within the relief area of one club-length once establishing the reference point. Reference Point: The nearest point of complete relief no nearer the hole.

  1. a)  The artificial surfaces and sides of roads and paths eg:

– Track adjacent to 10th Fairway, along Fairway and continuing to 13th Fairway

-Track alongside 16th Green

-Rear of 5th Green and adjacent to 6th Tee

-Roadway right hand side of 6th fairway from the 6th tee to the turnaround right hand side of 6th green

  1. b) All stakes, sponsor and course indicator signs, distance markers, irrigation pumps and controllers.
  2. c) Power Poles within the boundary of the golf course
  4. IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS CLOSE TO PUTTING GREEN (e.g. Sprinkler Heads)

The player may take relief under Rule 16.1b if an immovable obstruction is:

– On the line of play, and is:

– Within two club-lengths of the putting green, and

– Within two club-lengths of the ball.

Exception – No Relief If Line of Play Clearly Unreasonable

  1. BARK / MULCH

All bark areas and roads that are not artificially surfaced are integral parts of the course.

  1. STAKED TREES AND SHRUBS

If a tree or shrub, that is staked and/or protected by a tree guard, interferes with the player’s stance or the area of their intended swing, the ball MUST be lifted, without penalty, and dropped in accordance with the procedure prescribed in Rule 2.4.

  1. POWERLINES

If a ball strikes the powerline or power pole during play, the stroke is cancelled, and the player must replay the shot from as near as possible from the original shot was taken.

Penalty for Breach of Local Rule

Stroke Play – 2 strokes.  Match Play – Loss of Hole.
